Support for the Reorganization of the Town of Ellettsville and Richland Township
|
Thank you to everyone who participated in our survey regarding the proposed reorganization of the Town of Ellettsville and Richland Township. Your feedback helped inform the Chamber’s position on this important issue.
|
The Greater Ellettsville Area Chamber of Commerce supports the proposed reorganization, recognizing its potential to strengthen the local business economy through increased investment and housing opportunities and greater local control over planning and development. The Chamber also supports continued public education to ensure voters have clear, factual information about the impacts of reorganization.
|
A survey of chamber members showed strong support for the reorganization effort. 53 businesses responded. 77% of respondents support the reorganization, and 87% believe it would have a positive impact on future growth and economic development. Additionally, 76% believe it would benefit local businesses.
|
At the same time, the survey made it clear that people want answers to important questions. Taxes, infrastructure, responsible growth, and the preservation of our community's character remain top priorities. Respondents also asked for continued public education and transparent information so voters can make informed decisions.
|
The Chamber's mission is to promote a strong local economy and advocate for a healthy business climate. We believe the proposed reorganization advances that mission and offers a positive road forward for Ellettsville's future.

In the community, Shannon actively advocates for causes close to her heart, such as the Alzheimer’s Association Greater Indiana Chapter. She currently serves as the Executive Event Chair for the 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Bloomington.

A No-Cost Employee Benefit That Can Help Your Employees Build Financial Stability

The Community Loan Center of Indiana (CLC) offers employers a no-cost employee benefit that provides access to affordable small-dollar loans—giving employees an alternative to high-cost payday loans.
|
|
Employees can borrow up to $1,000 at 18% interest, with up to 52 weeks to repay, a $20 origination fee, and convenient payroll deduction. There is no credit check or collateral required, and employees can apply online 24/7. Loan payments are reported to credit bureaus, which can help employees build credit. Free financial education is also available.
|
|
For employers, there is no cost or financial risk. CLC provides the funding, manages the loans and handles collections. Employers simply share information about the benefit, verify employment when an employee applies, and establish payroll deductions for approved borrowers.
|
|
Offering CLC as an employee benefit can help reduce financial stress, minimize time employees spend dealing with financial challenges during work hours, and potentially support productivity, morale and employee retention.
