POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Program Director oversees all programming operations at all facilities, focusing on quality and growth of YMCA programs while providing supervision and mentoring for all program staff. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for leadership and career development, retention, recognition, and employee communication of program directors. Enforces Y culture, goal setting, and policy implementation.
  • Works with COO in hiring, training, and supervision of staff.
  • Works with COO to develop the program operating budgets for approval. Once passed, manages and monitors the budget to meet or exceed financial targets.
  • Develops and directs quality relationship-based, member-focused programs and models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and community.
  • Fosters a climate of motivation to develop member-focused programs and implements a program evaluation system to guarantee they support the Ys mission and cause.
  • Spends time on the front-line observing programs, interacting with members, participants and parents of participants.
  • Works with the marketing team to ensure effective communication and marketing efforts for both association-wide messaging and branch communications.
  • Works with association staff in the development and implementation of association-wide strategic plan.
  • Communicates fluently in both written and verbal settings for influence to attain buy-in and support of the YMCA.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Education, Human Services, Social Services, or equivalent preferred.
  • Four or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Ability to direct total operations through supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
  • This position requires on-site presence; remote work is not an option
  • CPR and First Aid certifications will be required.
