Ellettsville-based Smithville Communications on Monday announced Cullen McCarty as the new CEO of sister company Smithville Telecom LLC. The company said the move is the first phase of a planned succession first announced in 2021.
McCarty most recently served as executive vice president of Smithville Communications, a role in which he will continue in addition to CEO of Smithville Telecom.
Fourth generation Smithville owner Darby McCarty, who is also the mother of Cullen McCarty, will continue to serve as board chairman for both companies, as well as CEO of Smithville Communications.
“Cullen holds a strong record of developing and executing growth strategies while focusing on superior customer value,” Darby McCarty said in a news release. “As my business partner and 28-year employee of Smithville, he has co-authored the playbook that directs our investments in highly competitive markets. I am confident that Cullen’s proven leadership and significant fiber and customer-centric experience will guide our go-to-market transformation and fulfill Smithville’s enduring mission to connect communities and enrich lives.”
