In August, our Chamber collaborated with the Bloomington Chamber of Commerce to encourage county leaders to explore an alternate site for the County’s new justice center complex. This site on Woodyard and Vernal Pike is a more cost effective alternative to the North Park property located at I-69, at the gateway to Ellettsville.

We have learned that the County Commissioners will be discussing a purchase agreement for the North Park property at their meeting on Wednesday, September 25th . This may be your last chance to make your voice heard on the location and to ask for transparency on the decision-making and the details of the purchase agreement/cost. If you have questions or concerns you want to raise, there are two options:

  1. Email County Commissioners or County Council members. You can find email addresses at the staff directory on the county website: https://www.co.monroe.in.us/egov/apps/staff/directory.egov?structureid=16
  2. Attend the public meeting of the County Commissioners on Wednesday, September 25th at 10am. You can join in-person or virtually. Information can be found here: https://www.co.monroe.in.us/egov/apps/events/calendar.egov?view=detail;id=4583

It is important that we continue to advocate for our community and for the Envision Ellettsville Vision Plan. We urge you to take these opportunities to share your thoughts with county officials.

Finally, to better understand why the Chamber advocated for an alternative site, you can read our letter to county leaders here:
