Chamber Survey Shows Strong Interest in Reorganization Proposal

The Greater Ellettsville Area Chamber of Commerce recently conducted a survey to gather feedback from businesses and organizations regarding the proposed reorganization of the Town of Ellettsville and Richland Township.
A total of 43 responses were received.

Executive Summary

Survey results indicate that most respondents view the proposed reorganization positively and believe it could support future economic development and business growth in the Ellettsville area.
At the same time, respondents expressed interest in learning more about tax impacts, implementation details, and how growth would be managed over time.

Major Findings

· 79.1% of respondents indicated they support the proposal.
· 88.4% believe the proposal could have a positive impact on future growth and economic development.
· 79.1% believe the proposal could have a positive impact on the local business community.

Common Themes

Several themes emerged throughout the survey:
· Local control and decision-making
· Economic development opportunities
· Business growth and investment
· Long-term community planning
· Need for continued public education and outreach

Representative Comments

Respondents shared a variety of perspectives, including:
· Support for maintaining local control over future growth and development.
· Interest in attracting new businesses and expanding economic opportunities.
· Questions regarding tax impacts and implementation costs.
· Concerns about managing future growth while preserving community character.
· Requests for additional educational resources and public information.

Looking Ahead

The Chamber appreciates everyone who participated in the survey. Feedback from the business community provides valuable insight as discussions continue regarding the proposed reorganization.
Community members interested in learning more are encouraged to attend the public meeting on June 22, review available information, and stay engaged in the process.

Residents Invited to Final Reorganization Public Hearing, scheduled for June 22.

The final public hearing regarding the proposed Richland Township and Town of Ellettsville reorganization plan will take place on Monday, June 22, at 6:30 p.m. at Ellettsville Town Hall.
Residents are encouraged to attend to learn more about the proposal, hear updates, ask questions, and share feedback before the process moves forward.
Community members can also visit the Reorganization Booth at the Ellettsville Farmers Market at Chandler Funeral Home on Saturdays throughout the summer to learn more and speak directly with representatives involved in the effort.

Community Foundation launches multi-tiered grant initiative in Monroe County

Three funding tiers will help organizations address immediate needs, advance strategic initiatives, and pursue transformative investments.
The Community Foundation’s 2026-2027 multi-tiered grant funding initiative supports the growth, resilience, and long-term vitality of Monroe County. Through these multi-tiered investments, CFBMC seeks to position our community to advance efforts that support meaningful progress toward enhancing quality of life, attracting and retaining younger adults and families, increasing livability, and advancing community priorities in Monroe County.
Funding is available to a range of eligible organizations, including nonprofit organizations, schools, post-secondary institutions, local governmental entities, and religious organizations. In select cases, mission-aligned for-profit entities may also be considered if they can effectively address a charitable community need.
