United Way of Monroe County, along with community partners, is pleased to announce the 2023 Free Community Tax Service is open for the upcoming tax season. IRS-certified volunteers are ready to serve clients at nine in-person sites in Brown, Monroe, and Owen counties. Hoosiers making less than $60,000 annually can receive help filing their federal and state tax returns for free.
Tax preparation is provided free of charge and volunteers work one-on-one with community members to ensure they receive 100% of their refund, including the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) if eligible.

Your support needed
All fifth graders at Edgewood Intermediate get to attend an overnight camp experience at Bradford Woods, an outdoor learning center managed by IU.
This year, we already have 21 students in need of financial support to be able to attend Bradford Woods. The cost of the trip is $165 per student. Additionally, we have 14 juniors and seniors from Edgewood High School who represent our very first cohort of ELOTS (Edgewood Leadership Opportunities Through Service) student leaders. Several of these students are in need of financial support to cover the cost of their participation in leadership training and participation in the trip to serve as student leaders alongside fifth-grade teachers and staff. The total financial need is approximately $4000.
